CBDRM Guidelines

PDMA Balochistan has prepared a Program on CBDRM for different relevant CBOs, NGOs and other stakeholders who are interested to launch activities regarding CBDRM in Balochistan. here are the guidelines and sample modules that need to be followed by relevant agencies while initiating CBDRM specific activities (after obtaining requisite NOCs from PDMA). Minister for Home & Tribal Affairs ,Prison and PDMA Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Ahmad Khan Bugti inaugurated SMS Alert Early Warning System and the provincial headquarters building of the Rescue 1122.

Minister for Home & Tribal Affairs ,Prison and PDMA Balochistan  Mir Sarfaraz Ahmad Khan Bugti inaugurated SMS Alert Early Warning System and the provincial headquarters building of the Rescue 1122 in Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Quetta office.Mir Sarfaraz Ahmad Khan Bugti said the provincial government would not only maintain the standard of the Rescue 1122 service, but also provide more resources and staff to it. Earlier, on arrival in the Provincial disaster management authority (PDMA), Mir Sarfaraz Ahmad Khan Bugti also inaugurated SMS Alert Early Warning System for disaster management. Early Warning SMS Alert System is installed in PDMA Office with the Support of MDTF - World Bank Project. The Director General PDMA Mr. Muhammad Hashim Ghilzai briefed him on early warning system and its equipment and procedures for combating disasters.

PDMA Balochistan has held meetings in collaboration with all the provincial/ regional departments to review pre-monsoon preparedness and contingency planning for upcoming monsoon season.

Balochistan province is one of the most vulnerable provinces which are prone to both riverine and flash floods. In Balochistan, monsoon flooding occurs almost every year. Disasters (floods) in last few years (2007, 2010, 2012) has wrought economic pain and wide spread destruction in the province.
